Myanmar is a South East Asian country that neighbours China, Laos, Bangladesh, and India. The country was under millitary rule from 1962 until it returned to civilian rule in 2011.

However, just before the first parliament session with the democratically elected government who won by a landslide victory in the 2020 election, the military, led by senior general Min Aung Hlaing staged a coup and detained our president Win Myint, state counsellor Aung San Su Kyi along with other prominent political figures and activists.

The junta has amended multiple provisions under different laws including the privacy law to oppress the public, even going far to violate the 2008 Constitution. The people are fighting back against the dictatorship and the unconstitutional coup, protesting nationwide.
